Hi Friends!
This Friday night me and my lovely Babes (With Blades) will be performing in Nothing Special Productions' Fight Night X. We've been rehearsing this fight for a few weeks now and let me tell you...its BRUTAL. I'm covered in bruises, sore all over and delightfully happy about all of it! If you're free Friday night come check us (and a bevy of other kick ass theatres) out at the Maybe Stage in Rogers Park. But hurry. Tickets are going FAST! Ahoy hoy!
I'm delighted to share that I have two exciting and just plain ol' fun projects coming up. 1. Wednesday August 12th myself and three other members of Babes With Blades will be performing in Broken Nose Theatre's fundraiser "Lip Sync or Swim"! We've been working really hard to bring you the most excellent of lip sync quality. Its going to be equal parts fun, awesome and EPIC. Be there! 2. Friday, September 4th I will be performing with my darling Babes again at Nothing Special Productions' "Fight Night X"! The Babes have performed at previous Fight Nights, but this will be my first! I'm so excited! I'm so scared! Its going to blow your minds! xo, *M* PS. I can't seem to link to either company, so please Google them for more info! Last night I had a film shoot for a short titled "Back Track". It was a DePaul student film and we filmed at a motel in DuPage County that had...character. I managed to snap this photo of the room we booked. I love how the art work above the beds is identical. :-)
We've been in tech all this week and our first preview is tomorrow. Man, how time flies! I'm so proud of the work we've all put into this production. Its a fun, silly, ridiculous play that is going to make a lot of people laugh, which is just about the best dang thing in the world, IMHO.
Tickets are on sale now! You can find discounts on Goldstar and if you "Like" Babes With Blades on Facebook you can be privy to special FB discounts. ;-) See you kids at the theatre! *M* We've been in rehearsals for "Witch Slap!" for a few weeks now.
We finished blocking this week. We're off book starting next Monday. I'm exhausted and covered in bruises. And I couldn't be happier. :) xo, *M* I am DEElighted to announce that I've been cast in the upcoming Babes With Blades Theatre Company's production of "Witch Slap!" by Jeff Goode! This script won our latest round of our Joining Sword & Pen play writing competition and is based off of these two paintings by local artist Gabriella Boros: I'll be playing the role of Goody Blunt - a deranged Puritan housewife. A dream role, really. Its been a long time since I've been this excited about an upcoming show. Its a chance to make audiences laugh, get back to stage combat and play with some of my most favorite people in the whole world. I feel so lucky and humbled.
No, I'm not crying. YOU'RE CRYING! Please check our website for more info and I hope to see you at the theatre this Fall! :-D *M* I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be performing in two staged readings this coming September, both written by some very talented friends of mine.
"180 Degree Rule" by Lewis and Lhota For information on the reading series and tickets please visit the Pride Films and Plays website. "The Patchwork Drifter" by Jennifer L. Mickelson For more info on this FREE reading please visit the Babes With Blades Theatre Company website. Well folks, "The Robbers" is about to go into its closing weekend at the side project. We've had a fun run, but its about that time to put this puppy to rest. If you're in the Chicagoland area, come on by and check us out for one last hurrah! www.strangelooptheatre.org
Also, I'll be performing in a ten minute play as part of a variety show to raise funds for The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America on May 28th at Chemically Imbalanced Comedy (CIC). All the ticket proceeds will go to the foundation. For more info check out the Facebook invite. See you at the theatre! *M* I'm thrilled to announce that I've been cast in the all-female production of "The Robbers" at Strangeloop Theatre! I'll be playing the roles of Schwartz and Hermann. Here's a brief description:
Murder and thievery serve as both tools for ambitious desire and valid career choices for the desperate in this powerful story of siblings caught in a battle of succession and purpose. Strangeloop brings its unique approach to this once scandal-inducing classic in a contemporary and intimate staging. We run April 25th to May 26th. If you're in town then, please come on by and and check us out. For more information check out the Strangeloop website. *M* |
